Swedish Pancakes

Mormor doesn’t think she can run that fast, and anyway her Swedish Pancake pan would mean trying to flip seven pancakes at once!

  1. I surely appreciate Mormor’s common sense. She’s a lovely little doll with lovely clothes to accompany that sweet demeanor.

    • I also found it useful for baking Welsh cakes! My human kids loved Swedish pancakes made in the pan with little circles! I wish I could find a little Hitty-sized one for Mormor!

  2. My beloved Danish Mother-in-law made Æbleskiver’s for Shrove Tuesday (and any other time we could convince her to make them because they were such a treat! And while I think the pan might be a bit heavy to carry to run with… those delicious little balls filled with jam would provide energy as you ran!

    • Oh – Yum! We make Æbleskivers in the autumn when our apple tree gives us it’s bounty!! I agree that the cast iron Æbleskiver pan would be much too heavy to run with, let alone the part about flipping all the little balls at once!

    • Jane is a great pancake maker, and loves making and eating big fluffy maple syrup drenched stacks! We would really like to find a “proper” Swedish pancake pan for Mormor, as she would love to introduce them to little rolled-up cakes dusted with powdered sugar and drizzled with berry sauce!

  3. Mormor looks so cosy in her traditional outfit; it’s at times like this that I sometimes miss weather that’s cold enough to wear woollen clothes! I like a traditional thick Dutch bacon pancake; pannekoeken met speck en stroop. 😛
