Midsummer

Trug to the garden

A trug ride to the garden yesterday evening…

.

.

flowers and greenery

….to collect flowers and greenery…

.

.

Snip and tie

…which were snipped and lashed to crossed poles!

.

.

Circlets

Two little circles of greenery were tied to the ends of the cross pieces…

.

.

Ready?

…then it was time…

.

.

Dance

…to dance around the midsummer pole!!

.

.

Dream

And, if a maiden picks seven different wildflowers and puts them under her pillow on Midsummer Eve, she might dream of the person she will  marry!

.

.

Happy Midsummer (Agriculturally speaking, it’s about half way between the planting and the harvest)…Happy Summer Solstice to friends in the Northern Hemisphere, and Happy First day of Winter to our friends south of the Equator!

  1. What a beautiful midsummer pole the Quimpers made. A day for dancing barefoot in the long grass and dreaming of future abundance. Happy Midsummer.
