Shrubs and Bushes
Henrietta put on her dark-coloured apron, collected her punnet and…
.
.
….went out to the raspberry bushes!
.
.
There were a lot of raspberries…
.
.
…so many that after harvesting enough for the Hittys…
.
.
Henrietta helped pick some for the humans! We will eat some, share some and make some into jam.
.
.
After the raspberries were collected, Henrietta visited the Black Currant bushes…
.
.
…which were loaded with fruit…
.
.
…enough to try a different recipe this year, which includes a few black currant leaves…
.
.
…and a few lemon balm leaves…
.
.
…which are stitched together into a little bouquet garni…
.
.
…and is added to the crushed black currants and sugar. This is set into the fridge to infuse for a few days. Soon we will strain it and add vinegar, making a Shrub drink mixture! Delicious diluted with fizzy water on hot days! We hope there will be enough pulp leftover to make some jam, like we did with the rhubarb cordial recipe!

Summertime, and the kitchen is busy!
