Pears Fall
Coriander and Vanilla went out to the back garden – it’s time to harvest the William’s Bon Chrétien pears…

…it’s a good crop this year – we try to pick them when they are green, just on the verge of yellow…

…and starting to get a little blush of red or orange.

This one is perfect! If you wait until they are yellow, or actually fall off the tree, they will be brown and sickly sweet inside….

We gave the tree a hard prune in January to encourage it to make fruit on the lower branches where we could reach them – and we have a bountiful crop this year, so I guess it worked! We picked a basket of pears, and then there was a big windstorm! There were a lot of windfalls, so…
