Weaving 2
With all the heddles threaded, it is time to Sley the Reed! We’ve chosen a 12 dent reed (12 teeth per inch), and 18 warp ends per inch… therefore we have to alternate one thread/two threads in the reed. Easy, all you have to do is count to two.
This is what it looks like from above… Constance climbs up the raddle (a perfect Hitty ladder) and here she is looping two warps over the reed hook. Constance enjoys the work and it IS work!!

This is what it looks like at the front, through the reed…

Constance takes a break, and has a little sit on the front beam…the cat thinks anything involving 378 strings is an activity to be encouraged.

Those little hands have so much to do! But Constance always holds her smile.
She likes to help, almost never loses her temper and never talks back. Sounds too good to be true maybe, but I find it refreshing!.
May Constance never get woven into the design. Careful there, little wooden!
She herself won’t be woven into my cloth, only into the fabric of my life.
Nice photos! I particularly like the third one. Constance is very industrious, and does very well with complicated patterns too.
We haven’t yet worked together on a really complicated pattern, but I have my heart set on dong some Hitty-scale overshot at some point.
That would be very lovely to see. Maybe on a small loom?
I am so surprised to find that the cat has not completely dismantled the entire thing. In my house, errant strings quickly turn into cat fodder. Fabulous shots and post here today, I am really enjoying joining you on this adventure!
The actual cat has had to be encouraged away from the dressed loom. The Hitty’s cat is so small she can’t wreak too much havoc.
