Dawn Chorus Day
The first Sunday in May is International Dawn Chorus Day in the Northern Hemisphere, when spring has finally sprung and the birds gloriously announce their existence (is there a similar day South of the Equator in November I wonder?). Most of the Hittys were still snug in their beds at 5:30 am but Min (who is named after a bird after all) thought it would be fun to walk around the neighbourhood with me to watch the sun come up and listen to the songbirds! At the beach we found that the seagulls, crows and geese were not very melodious.
On the other hand, in our own back yard the robins, finches, wrens, warblers, chickadees, bush tits, nuthatches, kinglets, flycatchers, redwinged blackbirds, and sparrows made a joyful noise.

A glorious beautiful way to start the day and welcome spring! Followed by tea of course.

Mmmm. Tea. While most of us sleep, you two explore. I am surprised you did not run into Pip in one of those trees.
We didn’t check in the Apple Tree…
MIn is such a sweetie. Loved the story and the photos.
I hope the Missouri May snow has melted!
A beautiful day by the sounds of it.
It started very nicely, and continued with warm sunshine – at last!
