Horse Chestnuts
Constance and I can’t help but notice the chestnut trees on the way home from work – chestnuts drop on our heads and the leaf piles are knee high to a human and way over the head of a Hitty!

.
We both adore this particular colour of reddy-brown…Horse chestnuts are so beautiful, we think they ought to be more edible!

Constance has a suggestion for conker-collecting Hittys!

What wonderful defences can be found in the forest. Now Constance is ready for anything.
Yes, and she tends to meet challenges head-on, so watch out!
Constance is SO inventive! The cap is a marvelous idea to protect her wooden head!
We were trying to find a Hitty-sized Hard Hat, but came up with this solution instead!
truly that head dress really looks like something horrible Hetty Hickory would wear!! Cute pics. I love that shade of brown also. I wonder if this is related to the Chestnut tree that is practically extinct in the US. was wiped out back in the 1930’s by a disease from Asia. Changed the nature of the Ozark and Appalacian forests.
Tell Horrible Hetty to send her hat size, and we’ll see if we can find a chestnut helmet for her! Horse Chestnuts are Aesculus hippocastanum, native to Eastern Europe. American Chestnuts are Castanea dentata.
I think that Constance needs a Boadicea/Boudica costume to match her fierce chestnut helmet. Would chestnuts make good doll heads?
I think chestnuts shrivel and lose their lustre, so not the best doll head. Constance is not very fierce usually! At least not on the surface…
