Rose has been very encouraging, but after hours of knitting and ripping-out (this has been going on since July) the human is somewhat discouraged by the resulting calico slug …

Pat the Cat
This sleeping cat will be an 81st birthday present to a relative who gave up his cats when he moved into a new residence. The relative is very content to let sleeping cats lie, so this one will cause no trouble, other than perhaps ending up hidden in the clean laundry basket, or being sat upon. Thanks so much to Dyanita for Jingaa the Orange Tabby pattern on Ravelry, to Ancient Arts for the Meow Foundation calico wool, and to Rose and the daughter of the household for encouragement!

You did a wonderful job on the cat. I’m sure your relative will be very pleased with his new cat who will NOT scratch the furniture or require a litter box!
I am pretty sure he will love it…he loves the one made by the encourager for his 18 month old great-granddaughter…that gave me the idea to make one for his birthday. Good thing I started in July!

My congrats too, for this thoughtful and soft gift to the beneficiary and to the one who persevered through the challenging ordeal. These types of gifts can mean a great deal to an elder.
I would never have thought it would be so tricky! It was better once I switched to the two-circular needle method – at least then I could keep track of where I was in the pattern! I do think he’ll be amused by it!
