Passing Cloud – Little Sailor

Pelican

It was hard to choose which Hittys to bring on this Expedition. The Quimper Hitty human brought the first Hitty she ever carved (Constance) and the most recent-but-one (Tephra) as company on the Passing Cloud.  Florence and Prim also came, as they were making a one-way trip. However when the luggage was unpacked, we found a stowaway!

Lookout

Gráinne was indignant at being left behind…

.

Balance!

…so, using her wily pirate ways, she sneaked on board, and made herself right at home.

.

.

Gimlet Eyes

She peered at the horizon looking for other ships, heavy weather, and whales…

.

Inside compass

…and coerced the crew into teaching her navigation.

.

.

Outside Compass

The outside compass was a great place for a Hitty to be on watch…

.

.

Steady as she goes

…and Gráinne even took a turn at the helm while the Passing Cloud was under full sail!

.

.

Canada

What a thrill!

Snack

We were all impressed by the continuous appearance of super delicious food made by Chef Erin, like this snack of home made hummus and veggies!

The wind picked up about a minute after this picture was taken and Gráinne’s hat and the tomatoes went flying. Most of the tomatoes went to feed the fishes, but the hat was recaptured!

Thank you so much to our favourite photographer: for going out and buying Gráinne her own pelican case; for bringing her along to surprise me on board; and for recapturing Gráinne’s hat!

    • He must have heard her wee pleading voice. I was surprised and pleased when she appeared in the luggage, and Gráinne absolutely overjoyed to share the adventure with us!

  1. I had little to do with Grainne boarding the Passing Cloud. Other than being an unwitting courier – her smuggling days shone through. The little conniver!

  2. I don’t blame Gráinne for being indignant…of course a pirate belongs on a sailing vessel!!! It’s great to see her so at home and happy. I’m glad a gust of wind didn’t blow Gráinne into the sea. I sort of gasped when I saw the photos…but then I realized that you had her safe and secure…of course. Yes! Chef Erin comes up with amazing food. I am vicariously enjoying this entire adventure…thank you for including us. It’s just fantastic.
