Scrap Happy!
Rose’s under wear
I have been sewing for a doll that is the same size as Rose (6 1/4 inches), using fabrics donated to me by the person who will eventually receive the complete outfit…Rose’s shift is made from a linen hand towel, with a scrap of tatting around the neck, drawn up with a silk ribbon.

I made a pocket using a tea cloth.

Nothing in it, but a ribbon round it
…and tied it on to Rose’s waist…(she doesn’t have a corset yet, but she will!)

padding,
…I had a nice scrap of grey silk for the petticoat, but as it was not quite big enough, I made the back of the petticoat in linen. This technique was used in some human-sized 18th century petticoats. The padding should have been wool, but alas I loaned my bag of roving to a friend who is experimenting with needle felting, so I used polyester from a bit of an ancient duvet (I bought the double bed size duvet in England in 1987, and recently cut a side off to make it a single bed size).

Quilting
The quilting follows the existing lines of stitching on the grey silk scrap, with some additional stitching.

Petticoat
Voila – Rose has a Petticoat! We plan to make a corset and a sack-back gown – maybe for next month!

Quimper Hittys 
Oh la la! I LOVE what you’ve done….I have a quilted skirt somewhat finished for our Hittys (sitting in the “closet” for years now). I’m going to check out the group as scraps of this and that are most interesting to me. Thank you for sharing these beautiful items with us.
