Base Boards
More cutting up of popsicle (lolly) sticks…these cuts needed to be quite exact, so we first tried using a quilting ruler and a craft knife. We got a nice clean angle but it was very tedious and made holes in our craft mat…Favourite photographer loaned us his miter box which worked quite well.

Arianell clamped the stick in place…

…and Vanilla had a go with the saw.

The girls helped as much as they could but then they got distracted by the off-cuts!
.
.
Vanilla and Arianell made hearts…
.
.
…while the humans finished the cuts, glued the baseboards down, and used wood-filler on the gaps.

We are glad of the help – it makes the construction project very entertaining, and the girls are learning lots!

Those girls are just the sweetest! So lovely that they are interested in learning woodworking skills and helping out with this exciting project. I hope they come up with a plan for using those cute little wooden hearts,
Two little girls adds up to four more helping hands (not to mention Arianell’s feet clamps!)
You’re all a wonder in how much you accomplish, create and pass on to us. Thank you.
Thank you so much – we love our very small projects, they take concentration but only for short periods…(although I am suprised again at how much mess a small project can engender!)
So exciting to see your projects and they way you accomplish them. So nice that this is a whole family project…it makes it that much more special.
It is special. I have been imagining and planning this room box for quite some time…it is really satisfying to see the pieces begin to look like the real thing!
I believe I am learning as much as the little girls. What a project!! Also I love the hearts.
The hearts were serendipitous! We love them too…and are still contemplating whether and where to put them!
Those hearts would make lovely embellishments on the walls
They would! There are so many possibilities! We are going to finish the floor first, just to make sure they don’t clash!
