1. So beautiful! W have some growing in our yard too, but they will not bloom for a while.
   When I was a child there was a pioneer cemetery just up a little hill from our laneway,
   and it would be carpeted with lily of the valley in the spring.
   Perhaps you could send a photo of your Friday bouquet to your friend.
   That could be very cheering too.

   • They are such beautiful flowers, and seem to evoke sweet memories…I wonder if your childhood churchyard still has Lilies-of-the- Valley?

   • Perdita is quite an earnest little gardener – she loves buds and leaves and flowers, but she is happiest among green and white flowers.

4. I know I’ve sent this to you a few years ago but for your sick friend.
   My mother sang this to me at bedtime and every year when I smell the beautiful scent it all comes back again.

   Lilies of the valley deck my garden walk.

   That you could hear them ring?
   That will happen only when the fairies sing.
