Solstice Berries
Today’s weather forecast is for damp and grey all day…starting with fog and ending with rain.
.
.
It won’t be all that cold, but still – not great summer solstice weather…
.
.
…but some things don’t wait for pleasant days…
.
.
…like ripe berries (the best of which are always out of reach!)…
.
.
…but Tipsy got one!
.
.
This is why they are called Thimbleberries!
.
.
The Salmonberry’s name is because the berry looks like a cluster of salmon eggs (but it tastes like a berry, not a fish), Vanilla is relieved!
.
.
One of Arianell’s favourite berries – so tart and flavourful!!
.
.
The Strawberry pot has some beautiful ripening berries, and Carrot Soup found one perfect one!!!
.
.
Now what could be a more perfect first day of summer breakfast than ripe berries, freshly picked??
Happy Summer Solstice to all our friends north of the equator, and Happy first day of winter to our friends south of the equator, and may all your seasons be fruitful!

Summer solstice is not my favorite day of the year… it means that the days are getting shorter- sigh! But, it is all about savoring the loveliness of the season isn’t it? The Hitty berry breakfast looks scrumptious!
The amount of daylight lessens a little bit every day from now until the December solstice, but the North Pole points more toward the sun, so we should get warmer weather…Berry season is our favourite season of all!
A berry delectable breakfast indeed!
Oh yes, delectable indeed, as is anything that involves fresh berries!
… and a basket full of lovely Hittys, delightful.
It was a delightful morning despite the damp, the smiling Hittys made sure of that!
Your Hittys are dressed in such lively colors. Despite the gloom of the weather, the pretty berries accompanied by bright colored Hittys brings joy to my eyes.
The colours, the smiles and the taste of berries was a joy to us as well!
We’ve never seen salmonberries or Thimbleberries…they really do resemble their names. We are always learning such interesting things from your girls. Couldn’t help but notice that Vanilla found the berry that matched her dress, as well as Arianell and carrot soup…the berries seemed to be drawn to these nature loving girls. So sweet.
We aren’t quite sure if the girls were luring the berries or the berries were luring the girls! The combination was perfect however, and everyone shared the bounty. Fresh berry compote – mmmm!
my goodness what a bounty of berries! Love the girls all lining up to go berry picking in the damp.
The girls were not in the least discouraged by the damp, I think I might have to enlist their help when the raspberries get ripe in a week or so!
how splendid. I’m up to my waist in soft fruit at the moment, jammin’ jellyin’ and sharing with all the neighbours 😀
Here too – it all comes at once!
