Quimper Wisteria
The Quimper Humans planted a Wisteria vine a couple of years ago, and it seems to be growing quite happily…
.
.
…producing fronds and leaves…
.
.
…most of which are growing on the arbour we made for it, though some are reaching for the gutters of the house!
.
.
The stray fronds get tied back to the arbour structure or else pruned off…
.
.
…our vine doesn’t have flowers yet – maybe next year! Meanwhile Perdita is sitting next to the Quimper Hitty Wisteria Quilt…
.
.
…and beside this lovely Japanese card, given to us by a Hitty friend…
.
.
…and enjoying the komorebi of our leafy vine!
Komorebi is a Japanese word, written 木漏れ日 meaning: 木 (ko) tree, 漏れ (more) to escape from, and 日 (bi) sun. Together, the characters mean something like “sunlight filtering through trees.”
.
.

The wisteria looks happy! Could anything be more beautiful than “sunlight filtering through trees”?
We hope for flowers, maybe next year…the sunlight filtering through the leaves and flowers would be pretty nice too!
I love wisteria!
I do too! The leaves, the flowers, the shade. I am glad we planted it!
Just like being in a dream to be in here. Thank you, Love, nia
You are welcome…The dolls are a great incentive to dream in the garden!
enjoy your fuji and the shade it provides. The fibres from the bark of the wisteria vine were used to weave fuji-fu wisteria cloth in ancient times.
I didn’t know that! But a vigorous plant creates lots of material, I am not surprised to learn that it could be harvested and used like that.
What a lovely quilt and oh the Wisteria will be so glorious when it is in bloom!
Thanks very much – we love the quilt too, and are hoping and hoping for flowers next year!
I have Wisteria envy! I have moved mine again and is is still sulking!
