The Snowy Hush

Snowy Path

More snow sifted down…

Rosemary

…to dust the quiet garden.

.

.

deep!

Constance tramped a Hitty trail…

.

.

Paw prints

…or hopped in the prints made by the helpful cat…

.

.

Shhh

…and she stood still to listen to the snowy hush of the garden.

.

.

Leeks

The Leeks are all curled up…

.

.

Gooseberries

…the Gooseberries prickly and quiet…

.

.

Rose

…the Rose is dreaming of summer…

Snowberries

…but the Snowberry bushes like the weather!

Holly

  1. I have always enjoyed the peacefulness of an evening snowstorm. I know exactly what you mean by the quiet. The coat Constance has is wonderful. I absolutely love it. She looks amazingly happy wearing it.

  2. Welcome to the world, Hitty Holly. You could not have chosen a more beautiful time to take a first walk!.How lovely you look in your cozy coat.
If you go to live with your youngest person, we hope you will sometimes visit the Hitty Cupboard so we can wave to you from across the ocean.

    • Ah, we just realised, IT’S YOU CONSTANCE!!!! So sorry, we misread the last part of your expedition report.
We thought Holly had been given the same lovely eyes as you after a request from your Smallest Person.
Please forgive us. Perhaps we need to visit an optometrist?
HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all!

    • Dear Mary and Roberta, Little Holly has gone to live with her very appreciative little girl, but she promises to return some time very soon for a visit to the Quimper Hitty cupboard, and she needs a coat so she can play outside. Holly has green eyes, a green dress, and a cheerful smile…she was finished just in the nick of time for Christmas and she rushed out without getting photographed in good light!

      • We are so happy to hear that Holly made it to her new home in time for Christmas. Your special little Hitty Helper was brave to say she knew it might take a little beyond Christmas day for them to be united but she is still quite young and waiting would have been hard for her and for Holly too.
It will be fun to learn of their future adventures.
        Happy new Year,
        Best wishes from Wales,
        Mary and Roberta xxx

  3. Oh, Kjerstin, Constance is a Hitty after my own heart! I love being with her out in the snowy hush. Is that a new coat she’s wearing? It is so precious–love the white foxes and the fur-lined hood. She looks nice and warm. No wonder she can enjoy being out in the cold. Judith

    • I am glad you could take a little walk with Constance in our garden! I hope you had a warm coat too…we so rarely get cold weather here the humans only have one down jacket between them, we run more toward raingear in winter time! Of course the Hittys are well-supplied with warm coats and raincoats both! I made Constance’s coat in 2017, see the link in the comment above, or check my December 2017 blog posts, starting with Dec. 7, 2017

  4. I too have enjoyed seeing Constance wearing that lovely coat. And, the snow is indeed a quiet blessing. Perhaps some of that is coming our way? We are informed that we will have a weekend that will yield a bit of hibernation due to upcoming stormy winter weather. It’s so wondrous to see this quiet prelude of the snow that graced your peaceful garden. Thank you.

    • We think hibernation is quite a good idea in stormy weather, we are so lucky and grateful to have a warm house with a stack of fire wood, food in the fridge and a Hitty cupboard full of small cheerful beings! Hope you keep snug and warm through all the storms!

  5. We STILL don’t have snow here Expecting it to come Sunday, though. I’ll believe when I see. Enjoyed that little stroll through the garden, though.
