Straw Hats

scrap Straw

I found a lot of scraps of hat straw, none of it long enough for even a tiny Hitty hat…

.

.

Two sweet bonnets

…but with judicious piecing, I eked out two plain little bonnets!

.

.

fabric crown

Willa loved the pink one…

.

.

Velvet ribbon

…and I added a pink satin crown and a velvet ribbon, so it would look Jane Austen-ish.

.

.

stroll

Off she strolled to the park…

.

.

Daisies

…where she communed with the daisies for a time.

.

.

Butter!

Then a wonderful thing happened – a small person wanted to play with her!!! Apparently Willa loves butter…

.

.

rest

…and resting in the grass…

.

.

Tree nap

…and sleeping in trees…

.

.

sleep

…but sleeping in grass is the very best of all!

.

.

Fancy

Jane wanted a fancy hat, so I learned how to make ribbon roses!!

  1. Willa looks gorgeous. Love the beautiful dress and hat. Youngest human always adds love to these remarkable stories.

  2. enchanting,,,every photo. and always magical when the young human has a hand in things. Love the hats and Willa’s gauzy frock. And jane with her version of a fascinator..delightful.

    • We have been having fun with our hattery, and the Hittys are always delighted with the results of my experimentation. Jane says new hats are fun, and is looking forward to showing it off next time she goes out!!

  3. I do love a nice hat, and whilst Jane’s appeals to my peacock senses, I’d be far more likely to wear Willa’s simpler round bonnet. My own favourite is a ‘paper straw’ panama, so cool and comfy in this climate.
