Scarlet
Abigail found a hat that fit her…
.
.
…and went outside on a hot summer’s day.
.
.
The Scarlet Pimpernel (Anagallis arvensis) is a little weed, introduced to this area from Europe…
.
.
But I like it, and don’t pull it out…so it doesn’t count as a weed in my garden!
.
.
We think it is quite pretty, and delicate, and if the sun isn’t shining, it is hard to spot because the flowers close up.
.
.
But today is a good day to find them…

So glad to be reading g your blog again. So cute and Inspiring
I always like it when you drop by for a visit!
The Scarlet Pimpernel is such a pretty little flower. How fun that Abigail located it in the garden. Ah, the book! I recall being transported by its’ story decades ago. What a great recommendation from Mormor that was for Abigail to enjoy, especially in that tell-tale hat!
It is a pretty flower, but very shy – it creeps around and hides its face a lot…we are always glad when it appears in the garden, and hope it will feel comfortable and flourish here!
What a charmer she is!
She is! Thanks!
A charming and delightful visit to the garden with a sweet little girl in her pretty pinafore and wide brimmed hat!
We humans always enjoy following the Hittys out into the garden…
I love that book, my copy is very battered!
Mine too!
another charming excursion to the garden…and in such fetching hat!! Love the little “weed”….i have some of them in my garden…Queen Anne’s Lace, wild grape and the unfortunately named snake weed! All weeds but all so pretty.
