December Textiles

Show

Gilly, Graziella and Abigail went to the special show of December Textiles at the Hitty’s Art Gallery…

.

Scrappy Trees

…Graziella loved the quilted Scrappy Christmas trees – The left one made by us for December 21st of the Crafty Advent Calendar, and the right one made by our friend Onesmallstitch up the hill!!

.

Weaving and Cross stitch

Abigail was enchanted by the Woven Trees – made by a woman in the 1990’s.  One winter when I worked at the Royal BC Museum, the Victoria Handweavers and Spinners Guild set up and demonstrated their crafts – I was lucky enough to get this little scrap, and have saved it ever since! The cross-stitched Julbock (Swedish Christmas Goat) was on a card given to me by a friend a couple of years ago.

Cross-stitch and quilting

Gilly thought the little quilt showing a robin was the cutest thing ever – made by Joan Wotherspoon, we bought it at the 2022 Victoria Quilter’s Guild Christmas show and Sale…

Trees and cat!

…and she likes the cross-stitched Christmas vignette (made by the Quimper Hitty human).

.

.

Sweet delight

The Art Gallery served a special Holiday drink – the Cardamom syrup makes every cup of tea taste like hot and delicious chai! (December 22 of our Crafty Advent Calendar).

.

.

Stocking!

Gilly liked going to the Art Gallery with her big sisters, and even had a sip of sweet Cardamom tea…but her favourite December textile is a knitted one!!!

Thank you crafty friends for the lovely gifts!!

  1. Hello Gilly
We hope your favourite textile is soon plumped up with wonderful gifts.
What a great treat to go to such a grown up event as a textile show. We specially like the rug on the floor at the show and the one beside your bed, too.
    Merry Christmas!
