December Textiles
Gilly, Graziella and Abigail went to the special show of December Textiles at the Hitty’s Art Gallery…
.
.
…Graziella loved the quilted Scrappy Christmas trees – The left one made by us for December 21st of the Crafty Advent Calendar, and the right one made by our friend Onesmallstitch up the hill!!
.
.
Abigail was enchanted by the Woven Trees – made by a woman in the 1990’s. One winter when I worked at the Royal BC Museum, the Victoria Handweavers and Spinners Guild set up and demonstrated their crafts – I was lucky enough to get this little scrap, and have saved it ever since! The cross-stitched Julbock (Swedish Christmas Goat) was on a card given to me by a friend a couple of years ago.
.
.
Gilly thought the little quilt showing a robin was the cutest thing ever – made by Joan Wotherspoon, we bought it at the 2022 Victoria Quilter’s Guild Christmas show and Sale…
.
.
…and she likes the cross-stitched Christmas vignette (made by the Quimper Hitty human).
.
.
The Art Gallery served a special Holiday drink – the Cardamom syrup makes every cup of tea taste like hot and delicious chai! (December 22 of our Crafty Advent Calendar).
.
.
Gilly liked going to the Art Gallery with her big sisters, and even had a sip of sweet Cardamom tea…but her favourite December textile is a knitted one!!!
.
.
Thank you crafty friends for the lovely gifts!!

This textile art show is absolutely enchanting. Thanks so much for sharing. The cardamom syrup sounds delicious!
You are welcome! We had fun at the wee tiny Textile Art Show!
Hello Gilly
We hope your favourite textile is soon plumped up with wonderful gifts.
What a great treat to go to such a grown up event as a textile show. We specially like the rug on the floor at the show and the one beside your bed, too.
Merry Christmas!
From Mary and Roberta N-Q-H
Thanks so much! We like those little rugs as well…they they are soft and cosy!
Those wee works of art are amazing!! Love all the wire hangers, too!
Thank you. The smaller heart hangers were made by a kind and generous friend, they are usually in the Sewing shop but we loaned a couple to the art gallery for this show!!
It’s so fun to see the variety in textiles at the Gallery…but my favorite item was that Cardamom Syrup….sounds divine.
It does sound tasty doesn’t it? We haven’t actually tried it but I know it will be amazing!
what a stunning exhibit of textiles…I am not sure what my favorite is. Loved them all.
I love them all and can’t decide either!
Precious post
