Now that the live Opera season is over, we listen to CBC Saturday Afternoon at the Opera when we can. Yesterday’s presentation was Jules Massenet’s Cendrillon, another operatic version of Cinderella. Constance and her human enjoyed the singing and also the story… it was a nice background to our own efforts to prepare for the fast approaching date when the daughter of the household will unite with her own prince charming.
Tansy has been off on an adventure, spending time in Winnipeg, Edmonton, Ottawa while her host helped to plan a UNESCO conference. Yesterday they returned to Victoria where her host attended the meetings held at the Museum and University, and Tansy returned to the Hitty Cupboard!
Hitty Constance thought she might run into some small people on her visit to the Horticultural Centre of the Pacific. There were numerous small dwellings sprinkled about here and there throughout the gardens. This one reminded us of the Little House in the Big Woods, but alas, no tiny Laura Ingalls came out to play.
The Horticultural Centre of the Pacific is a lovely place to take visitors if they are really interested in gardening and plants. It is less brash and commercial than a more famous establishment nearby, the gardens are just as beautiful…and much more tranquil.
Constance and her human spent last week house cleaning, and the weekend with friends visiting from Ireland… We woke up yesterday morning, and Suddenly it was June!
While visiting in the Eastern Townships, Constance slept with her friend in a comfortable four-poster bed, between dainty linen sheets, and under a soft wool blanket…Their delicate nighties are pretty nice – we all admired the pretty smocked yoke.
