A nice friend sent me a kit to make this doll, produced by Gail Wilson, and included some patterns that were specially designed for her, like this sweet nightgown and cap.
Constance was carved in 2007 while I was on vacation in Turkey, I finished her when I was in Istanbul (formerly called Constantinople, which is why I named her Constance). She recently received a packet of beautiful things from a Hitty friend who lives in Istanbul!
Madame Owl and a friend arrived in pieces, two lovely kits made by Jenny Barnett in Anglesey. The kits have everything you need except for needles, thread and scissors. It wasn’t difficult to sew up the body and limbs…instructions were clear – I love the result! Thanks, Jenny!

This is a very old doll (turn of the last century), one of several that my grandmother bought in Pollock’s Toy Museum in the 1950’s. My Grandmother told me that thousands of these peg dolls had been discovered in a barn somewhere, and ended up in a bin for sale at the Museum. I have three of the dolls, so was very happy to let Young Human take this girl home with her.
We are so glad that our Tulips are growing, and budding – but they look like they are going to be plain old yellow…not an exotic red with yellow stripes like the picture on the label…
Floradora is glad of her knitted dress and thick sweater…there was frost on the ground this morning! Siyah doesn’t much mind, as she still has her winter coat!
