Lavender sachets
The Human’s Grandma taught this method of making a ribbon sachet of Lavender: Gather a small bundle of lavender – an odd number of stems! Tie them together just under the flowers….
Bend the stems down so they form the “ribs” of an umbrella, with the flowers inside. Then, starting at the bent stem end, weave a ribbon round, over and under each stem. Finish the sachet by tying the ribbon into a bow at the bottom of the bundle of flowers. You can see what this looks like in the picture at the end of this post…

For another project we started by pulling off the lavender flowers. Constance was pleased with the big bowl full.

The girls decided to freshen up the old sachet that arrived in the Box of Treasure. The top seam was opened up and a bit of fluff which used to have a drop of perfume on it was removed and discarded.

And the girls filled it up with new fresh lavender.

How delightful to be able to prolong the lavender season!

What a lovely idea and method.
Dear Mrs P. We do enjoy textile arts of all kinds, and are grateful to Grandma B. for teaching us this method, lo these many years ago, and for infusing us with a love of lavender!
oh what lovely wands/sachets!! YOu have made such lovely things from that box of treasures. It certainly was sent to the right human!! I love the pic of the girls filling the sachet bag with wonderful lavender flowers. I can smell it from here!
The joy of this gift goes on and on! We are constantly discovering new things to do with it!
So lovely!!
Thank you – It is easy and pretty, and has a lovely scent!
These posts on lavender seem like gentle “play” and yield so much beauty and pleasure. The colors that you’ve used from a variety of sources feel like a lullaby…add the lavender and one is truly ready to drop off to sleep.
Truly a lovely material to work with – we were glad to catch the plant at the right moment this year – we often leave it too late!
