Half-Pint Apron Dress
Finished dress
This half-pint Hitty is wearing her new apron dress. It is based on the dress worn by wee Meg, who was carved and dressed by TC Vollum.
Pattern Measurements
The dimensions are written on the pattern – the dotted lines at the edges are fold lines, and are indicating a 1/8 inch fold. First fold the sides of the bib towards the middle of the bib, then fold the top half down. Then fold the tops of the skirt down towards the hem on the inside.
lace and ribbon shoulder straps
Stitch a narrow ribbon onto some narrow lace. Make each strap about two inches long. Stitch one of each assemblage to the sides of the bib and tack the lace to the waist. Try it on the doll to confirm the length (read to the end of this post to see how long it should be). Then trim the length if needed, fold and hem the ends. Work a button loop at the far end of each lace/ribbon assemblage. Hem the bottom of the skirt. I have also hemmed the centre backs because it was a very shreddy material.
Tube Dress
Sew up the back seam so it makes a little tube about the size of a little reel of cotton (with bunny ears!).
Ribbon at waist
Sew a bit of ribbon at the waist just under the bib part, let the rest flap free.
Elastic cord
Knot some thin elastic cord, hide the knot under the waist ribbon and gather the back waist…secure the other end with a French knot under the ribbon at the other side, and cut off the excess.

…and thread the left hand ribbon through the right hand loop…
A Big Bow
And tie a nice big bow…the bow doesn’t have to be this big, but I do recommend not cutting the ribbon shorter until you decide how big the bow loops should be.
Finished dress
It is a cute pattern – eh? If you don’t sew up the back seam, and expand it to fit a bigger doll, it makes a nice Hitty apron.

what a clever little design. thank you for sharing. I have some all bisque littles that could use this pattern.
I think it is a great pattern and so cute! Little dolls need only a little scrap to feel dressed, so you can probably find just the right material if you are like me and save every tiny shred!!
