Evening Stroll with Mary Ann
Mary Ann works hard and worries about things . She feels responsible for keeping the Hitty Cupboard tidy and its inhabitants out of mischief. It can be hard to get her to take a break from the toils of the cupboard, but yesterday, after the week’s work was done, she and I went for an evening stroll.
We admired the flowers blooming all over the neighbourhood, both the fancy ones…

…and the plain.
We discovered some flowers that are good to eat in salad…
…and some that are good to drink in tea.
We love looking at the amazing variety of flowers with their endless shapes, colours and sizes, and marvel at the myriad ways they can make us feel happy.
At the top of the hill at the end of our stroll, we were filled with a different kind of joy. We know that individual flowers are still there, and the work and worries, but they recede for a while in the immensity of the evening sunlight, the sea and the distant mountains.

What a refreshing stroll…thanks for taking us along, Mary Ann and QH human!
You are welcome, we are glad you could join us!
I love seeing Mary Ann. She’s such a calm and conscientious Hitty.
She is calm and conscientious, a great asset to the sometimes giddy Quimper Hitty cupboard! We are so glad you made it possible for her to come to us!
So beautiful! Thank you!
You are very welcome!
One of life’s gifts to us is the ability to see beauty everywhere it is…you and Mary Ann sure take advantage of that gift!!! Another is spreading happiness…and you do that too by sharing!!! Thank you and many hugs!
You are welcome! We are so happy to have made so many friends through this blog, who make it fun for me to continue! Thank you so much too!
And flowers DO make us feel happy. It’s such a pleasure to stroll with Mary Ann. I do love lobelia-“little blue goodies” I called them as a child. Thank you, Quimper Hittys!
What a great name for Lobelia! I have always liked them too!
A walk in a peaceful environment is the perfect remedy to ease worries and put life’s qualms into perspective. What beautiful and colorful flowers you and Mary Ann found. Just lovely.
We are so lucky to live in a place where there are flowers and friends, sunny evenings and horizons!
So lovely….Mary Anne and her human, both beautiful inside and out. Thank you for a such a serene and beautiful outing.
Thank you, we really enjoyed our stroll. The thought just came to us – we pondered the beautiful flowers and saw how they fit into the view when you can’t actually see them…it made us happy!
Such a peaceful and beautiful walk you and Mary Ann took. You both deserved such a restful time. I adore Mary Ann’s hat. I bet you made it.
Love to both of you.
Celia
Thank you, it was restful! I did make Mary Ann’s straw bonnet, and she just loves to wear it on sunny afternoons!
This is one of my very favorites. I thought it was so beautiful. Did you make Mary Ann as well as her hat???
Billie
Thank you! Mary Ann was carved by Gustavo Trullet, and painted by Happy Herbert…we love her and her gentle attempts to influence the Quimper Hittys.
Influence them with Quaker wisdom?
Mary Ann thinks the world would be kinder and gentler if there were more pacifists in it.
