Rose is always willing to help with a knitting project, and provided much encouragement with the latest pair of socks (though she, like the rest of the Hittys, always optimistically refers to hand-made socks as Hitty Sleeping Bags).
Leftover yarn
The youngest member of the human family happened to visit last weekend and she greatly admired the socks, which made Rose ponder the leftover yarn.
Hm-m-m
She figured it looked about the right amount to knit a pair of small socks.
Pattern
So a pattern was dug out…
foot-outline
A tracing of the actual feet obtained, and the socks begun…
Rose dear, you are an accomplished knitter! Smart choice of needles… 😌 Congratulations on the small sock….it (and its mate) will undoubtedly make a young human very happy…but Gilly will miss it!
I think she will like them! It was fun to write and ask for a tracing of her foot – it came with a funny letter on the other side! Poor Hittys – doomed to disappointment almost every time I get out the knitting needles! One of these days I will fix that situation.
That first photo of the flowers that matched the color of the socks is striking. You have a gift for creating a story with your photos alone. That gorgeous carnation? And giant zinnia? With the yarn in that orange cup…stunning…and just when I am in awe of the color you are able to whip up…I see my little Gilly “weaving” herself into the sock…soooooooooo charming.
The Littlest has excellent taste in footwear…and seems to be showing a fondness for fiber. How nice to pass along practical passions! And well-tested, Gilly!
I was pleased at her attention – and her request, and happy to oblige, though I can’t quite knit as fast as she seems to expect! Gilly looks like she has caught the Hitty Sleeping bag bug.
What a sweet idea Rose had and carried out. I am sure the wee one will love them. The BIG sock is beautiful. too. and looks like quite an accomplishment.
I am happy to say that I am half way through the second sock, and I should be able to put them into the post for the little human to get them later this week!

Sometimes the colours just catch my eye and I run for the camera!
The Gerbera (giant Zinnia-like flower) and Carnations are the tail end of Carrot Soup’s Tussie-Mussie:

You’re so accomplished is so many ways! I wish I could knit…
I like knitting and other textile arts – it is always interesting to see what the yarn turns into, and usually gratifying too, though not always!

Gorgeous colors! Such magical socks! And, darling photos- a treasure, as always!
I like wearing the big ones! I think the little human will like the small ones!

I love wearing the big sock- the cable along the side of my foot was fun to make, and is like a pretty secret inside my shoe!
Oh the colors..oh the sweetness of it all. And imagining the smallest Quimper human in these colorful socks makes me smile!
