Crock Lid
The Quimper Hittys have a gorgeous salt-glazed crock in their kitchen, but Jane wished that it had a lid to keep the contents dry and safe from larder beetles.
So the human checked through the wooden cotton reels…

.
…sawed the end off of a suitable one…
.
.
made a little knob out of epoxy putty…
.
.
…and returned it to Jane.

Min thinks Tupperware would work just as well!

Wow how clever.

I was just wondering how to cut a circle and slope the edges…then the cotton reels caught my eye…
Ingenious! Well done, that makes a great lid.
It works really well, doesn’t it? Jane is particularly happy!
Perfection!
Thanks very much! We think the cotton reel makes a perfect lid!
To each his own, huh? The QH household is so very clever and thrifty!
We were glad to help Jane out, she is much relieved by having a lid for her favourite crock. Min doesn’t understand!
Oh my gosh, how creative. And where did Min get her just right size of Tupperware?
A very kind and generous friend gave Min the wee Tupperware keychain, Min was delighted that it actually has a lid that can be put on and off!
Splendid!!!
We think so!
I now know where Tansy gets her resourcefulness from…it’s from living with you, Quimper human. That top is absolutely perfect. Looks like it came with the crock. I’m afraid my Hittys would have one like Min’s.
Min’s container works, and now, so does Jane’s. It is good to have such amiable Hittys in the cupboard!
Min always makes me smile! So happy that Jane has a human who makes her life easier. That really is a very lovely crock!
We do adore the crock, and Jane is very happy that it is more functional now that it has a lid.
