A Chilly February Walk
The Comox Valley Hittys came for a visit with their human…(they don’t live in the Comox Valley any more, but we kept the name so the tags and categories will still work as links)
.
.
Vanilla brought out some wraps and everyone bundled up.
.
.
Anthea was glad of the warm soft cloak which could cover both her and the baby. She brought her binoculars so she could go birdwatching. They saw an immature seagull swimming and also a male Bufflehead in the water.
.
.
Vanilla lay down on the rocks and looked for birds in the air, and she almost missed the valentine creature (like a chiton, but with heart-shaped segments instead of butterfly-shaped segments).
.
.
Dulcie, Vivee and Linnea were cold so they tried to find a place to sit that was out of the wind and with some sun to warm their backs…
.
.
…and Elsatuna went Bungee-jumping…
.
.
…Wheeeeeeeee!
.
.
Then they went over to the Arbutus tree to sit for a while…
.
.
Anthea and the baby climbed up for a rest in the tree…
.
.
…and the young human decided the tree was good for human climbers too…
.
.
…and Elsatuna went bungee jumping again.
.
.
Then she and Vanilla skated on a tiny frozen puddle.
.
.
They all sat for a while and watched the ducks and a seal, and listened to the waves and said it is wonderful to live so close to the sea!
.
.
Then they all ran home because it was cold, and had an outdoors picnic!
.
.
Linnea dropped a piece of macaroni, and gravity pulled it down to the floor, so Gravity got cheesy fingers!
.
.
The End!!!

What a fantastical story! The Valentine creature, Elsatuna, skating on that little pond, bungee-jumping! The stories of the young human makes for a wonderful start to the day. Thanks to all for the glorious fun.
It is such fun to visit with young human and her Hittys! Never a dull moment and usually something unexpected, like bungee jumping, or cheesy Gravity!
Oh how I love you sharing your visits from and with the young human and her adventures! Becky said it all first. I have 11 cm of snow outside already on Salt Spring, so maybe the Hitties will be out and about in unseasonal wondrous snow soon too? it seems less cold somehow, although blizzarding down.
We love the adventurous young human! The snow is snowing all around my neighbourhood today too! We indeed went out for a little frolic this morning!
What a wonderful adventure The Young One and her friends had! It’s always a delight to see what they have been up to. It’s also a joy to see the ocean and the arbutus trees 🙂 Thank you!
The young human said it was wonderful to live near the sea, and she was right! The arbutus tree was only recently extracted from an encircling thicket of gorse and broom, and we are so glad to see it’s beautiful form.
I must say, Elsatuna looks rather chilly compared with the Hittys, with those long bare legs in the cold wind. Also, I love the human’s footwear, especially the bright pink laces!
Elsatuna seems to be impervious to cold and completely free of inhibition! We were taken with the brand new boots with pink laces too, and glad the young human got them just in time for this cold snap!
I have read and re-read this story, it’s wonderful. Each and every photo is a story in itself. Love the bungee jump and youngest member is just adorable. Love her.
Thank you so much for taking the time to take these wonderful pictures and tell the story that goes with them. You are a treasure.
We are so lucky to have young human in our family, we always look forward to her cheerful visits. I feel lucky to be able to share them.
oh my what adventures! Such a busy day…I am sure the young human and the Hittys all slept very well that night!
They certainly did – especially Elsatuna I think! I also think I might need to knit her some socks…
