Scraphappy Blueberries
An old curtain, tediously unpicked (the machine stitches were very close together)…
.
.
…became a blueberry lining…
.
.
.
.
…and scraps from an old wool shirt that had shrunk in the wash…
.
.
…were turned into the outside of a french press coffee cosy. It slightly resembles our kitten (whose name is Blueberry).
.
.
The rest of the scraps were ripped into 31 cm/15-inch squares…
.
.
…and pressed…
.
.
…and hemmed…
.
.
…into seven cloth napkins.
.
.
…and put on the table for Sunday dinner

ScrapHappy is a group of bloggers (links below) who post monthly about using up scraps! Any genuine scraps are allowed – no new materials. Blog posts are published on the 15th of the month, and it is always a treat to see what ingenious things people are doing with bits and pieces saved from the scrap heaps! If you think you’d like to join the group, contact Kate or Gun who devised and run it – their blogs are the first two links below:

Your scrap work always brightens my day and leaves me with a sigh of contentment. Isn’t that blueberry material so inviting to work with?
Thanks! The Blueberry fabric was a piece from my late mother-in-law’s collection – she had a good eye!
Coffee-Pot Puss is magnificent! What a lovely scraphappy use for things past their original usefulness.
I like the name coffee-pot-puss! He also makes a good hand-warmer/half muff after his coffee-cosying work is done!
I bet! I wonder if there might be a Foot-Warmer Cat at some stage, it seems such a cosy idea for winter!
Your posts always give me smiles and peace. I love your ethic and the results and your sharing with me.
Thank you,
Laurel
You are welcome! We love this scrap happy group very much, with so many people trying to use things up, it is very inspiring!
I love when things get repurposed! And you are the master of that!!!
Thanks! We loved the blueberry fabric, and the thick woollen shirt was very much loved and well-used. It is so great to find useful second lives for these things.
love all those blueberries, hope you had blueberries for dessert.
We didn’t for Sunday dinner…but we have many frozen blueberries still in the freezer – enough to last us until fresh blueberry season in a couple of months!
Such a cute cozy! And lovely napkins. Well done!
Thank you – my son loves his coffee-pot-puss and we are all enjoying the napkins!
How utterly wonderful 😍
Thanks! We had fun making the blueberry cosy – and the napkins are very cheering and summery, just what we needed after a long winter!
Your cat is adorable and so are the napkins!
Thank you! We can’t wait for fresh blueberry season!
love that. So many fabulous items.
Thanks! We love them all!
Oh that’s such beautiful fabric. I’m pleased you made some napkins too as I was fretting about it being hidden inside the lovely cat cover.
It is beautiful fabric isn’t it? Blueberry the coffee-pot puss had to have a bit of the blueberry fabric for the lining, but we all love the napkins!
What a great cozy! Love the blueberry fabric touches too.
My son loves it! He says the coffee tastes better too!
what a great coffee cozy…looks like your little Blueberry! And your napkins are so pretty….you do set a lovely table!
Aw, thanks!
There is so much talent in this group! I love seeing all the neat stuff you all make from repurposed items.
Thanks! I love reading what scrappy things people come up with!
wow! I hope you told your dinner guests where the napkins came from! and love Blueberry the cat!
Thanks! I had been hoping to make up the napkins with my granddaughter but it didn’t work out this time. Everyone loved the napkins!
