Wassail the Trees!
Floradora made a big pot of tea…
.
.
…and Gilly helped pour it into the trunks of the fruit trees in our back garden.
.
.
They climbed up the trees…
.
.
…and hung up toast…
.
.
…and more toast…
.
.
…until all the trees were festooned with toast!

Wake Up trees – and Happy New Year! Be blessed, and bless us!
Happy New Year from me and the Hittys to all of you, my Hitty friends!

How beautiful and nice. Thank you dear Hitty Lady, Love, nia
You have reminded me that friends and I used to wassail our fruit trees each year then have a meal together. Then during covid lockdowns we stopped (her 90 year old Dad lived with them and was shielding) and we never started again. Maybe next year I will suggest it.
I really do appreciate how you bring the natural world into your lives, honoring their part in our daily lives. Appreciation goes a long way, doesn’t it?
Awesome! We gave our trees large buckets of water because its been so dry but we never thought of tea and toast 🙂
That is pretty awesome a tradition!
I expect the tea was appreciated – before the rain arrived and no doubt the birds and squirrels will enjoy the toast. Blessings for the New year.
