…and Gilly helped pour it into the trunks of the fruit trees in our back garden.

Bud

They climbed up the trees…

Toast

…and hung up toast…

.

More Toast

…and more toast…

.

.

Toast the trees!

…until all the trees were festooned with toast!

  1. You have reminded me that friends and I used to wassail our fruit trees each year then have a meal together. Then during covid lockdowns we stopped (her 90 year old Dad lived with them and was shielding) and we never started again. Maybe next year I will suggest it.

  2. I really do appreciate how you bring the natural world into your lives, honoring their part in our daily lives. Appreciation goes a long way, doesn’t it?

    • I am sure your trees appreciate the buckets of water! The more traditional libation is toast and ale, but we didn’t have any beer lying around this year, so we thought we’d try tea…we’ll find out I guess, if the trees appreciate it!

  3. i only learned of this tradition in your past posts. My red Mullberry trees have been very neglected! I did enjoy this outing of your sweet girls and their much loved trees
