Fibrations 2013
Constance spent some time in Fibre Heaven last weekend, at the St Ann’s Academy Orchard where the 2013 Fibrations Festival was going on…
.
Many many weavers, spinners, felters, and embroiderers, gathered to demonstrate and sell their weavings, spinnings, feltings, and embroiderings. Constance was totally enchanted with the Structo Artcraft Loom, made in Illinois in the 1920’s or 30’s. This was at the table of Jean Betts who writes One Small Stitch , one of our favourite blogs. Constance has hopes to visit the loom again…
.
We were tempted by many pretty things, but managed to restrict ourselves to a fascinating linen tea towel with a woven-in centre loop (have to try this some time) made by Karen Lengyeltoti…..
.
.
And a pair of Hitty sleeping bags by the same fibre artist for a deserving and discerning birthday girl. Sadly we didn’t win anything on the raffle table, sigh…but maybe next year!

It looks as if Constance had a wonderful visit. And was so restrained in her purchases! That loom, what a wonderful thing it would be for the Hittys to have another working loom, nearly their size.
Fairly restrained, this time!
oh that would have been a wonderful festival to attend. I fear that I would not have been as circumspect in my purchases as the frugal Constance!! I admire her will power and discipline.
It was fun. It was hard to choose between all the beautiful Hitty sleeping bags, but we know the birthday girl will like the green ones! The tea towel was surprising and beautifully woven – we had to buy it!
hope Constance enjoyed her weaving experience – maybe she would like some weaving lessons?
She would love it! We’ll contact you about that when we get back from our Appalachian jaunt!
