Damp
Opal has been visiting since the fall, when her family of origin asked us to look after her while they went off on their annual nautical peregrinations. We all knew the visit was going to end some day, but both Min (Opal’s carve-sister) and Agathe (her block sister) have been dreading the moment when Opal’s family of origin return to Northern climes and sends for her. The three of them can be quite irrepressible, but there has been a wistful atmosphere in the Hitty cupboard lately.
The Quimper Hitty human suggested a Cheering Walk to the beach, but the sisters sat glumly wondering how soon the ocean waves would waft Opal’s family to our shores again…
…however their dampened mood only lasted until Opal spotted something rolling around in a tide pool…
…whereupon the dampened spirits became dampened hems and boots…
.
How wonderful that Opal has been with you. I’ve enjoyed her adventures with Agathe so much.
She’s an imp, and an aider and abettor of wild schemes usually involving mischief!
Always sad to see friends leave, but treasured memories of their visit remains.
We do treasure the fun and frolics – too bad she didn’t keep up her diary after Christmas – but she was too busy scheming!
Farewells are so poignant – but perhaps there is a chance that Opal might come for another visit some day? She certainly leaves happy memories behind….
Opal and her humans are welcome any time in Victoria. We love visits (long or short) with such delightful and charming guests!
oh partings are such sweet sorrow! How I have enjoyed the adventures of these three. We will ALL miss Opal!
Happy to see the threesome having a bit more fun in the tide pool.
Never a dull moment with these three, and three kids + a tide pool is a recipe for fun!
oh my, that will be a tearful goodbye, Opal has had wonderful adventures with Min and Agathe. Happy memories.
The human is trying not to think about goodbyes, and the girls are too busy with their tide-pool discovery to worry about it!
