Lucia Day 2015
Swedish and Finnish ancestry makes the Quimper Hitty human especially happy on the 13th of December. On this day, the oldest girl in a Swedish house would prepare a special breakfast, and wearing a crown of candles she would waken the household with fresh saffron buns while singing the Lucia song.

We welcome the return of the light! Happy St Lucia Day!
We can’t wait for a bit more daylight, but meanwhile Santa Lucia and pepparkakkor will help!
A beautiful post.
Thank you very much.
your imagination always makes me smile 🙂
I am glad – more smiling is a good thing!
My favorite outfit for my American Girl doll Kirsten is her Saint Lucia dress and crown. Glad to see the Quimper HIttys are getting a treat today, whether they dress up or not!
We’ve used a variety of white dresses (actually most of them were nightgowns!) One of these days I will make a dedicated Lucia Day dress for Constance!
…in Heavenly peace. All is calm even after the wild waves of the earlier post. Lovely.
It was still windy outside, but all tranquil and snug in the Hitty Cupboard!
A lovely tradition with a wonderful history. Glad that things are calm in the HItty Cupboard.
We all enjoyed the pepparkakkor, and the peace and quiet in the cupboard!
