Lemon Poppyseed Cake
Hatty wanted to do some baking, and Gráinne thought it sounded like fun…
…Gráinne spent a long time finding a suitably Piratical apron.

Making cake is messy work!
Cutting it is fun…
…eating it is best of all!

The cake making might be messy work, but it sure seems like the QHs have the right tools to get the job done, including a piratical apron. What fun in their kitchen!
Gráinne is not fond of lace – I was happy to find some fabric I thought she would like!
What an adorable picture story. The props, the scenes, the clothes, not to mention beautiful Gráinne and Hatty.
Thanks for such a great post (as always).
Celia
You are welcome! Gráinne and Hatty made an excellent cake, and fortunately enough to share!
I love your sense of humor, and how you gently create that quirky little element of surprise that is always such a delight!
Thanks 🙂 we love to play, and love it when it feels like people are playing along!
I “second” tottietalkscrafts’ comment!!
Thank you Ann, you gave us the amazingly tiny measuring spoons, without which the Hitty’s baking would be rather hit or miss 😊
Love the mixer and all the accessories. Cake baking CAN be messy!! Great pics and story.
Thank you! We are lucky to have friends and relatives who we have trained to spot little things that the Hittys can make good use of!
Hatty and Grainne are quite the bakers. Grainne is quite adept at meeting any task with gusto. Loved the fish skeleton apron she pulled out of the pile. Hatty is to be applauded for maintaining her composure when Grainne pulled out her cutlass to cut the muffin. Hatty seems open minded to new ways of accomplishing an outcome and is to be commended for it.
P.S. I would like to thank Sherry for sharing the poem by S. Gillian on “I had a mother who read to me.” I lost my mother recently and that poem reminded me of how lucky I was to have her read books to me as a child and often she would call me on the phone and read excerpts of special poems to me. Thank You.
We are so happy that you enjoy our episodes, the Hittys love to hear that ! What a lovely thing to remember about your mother – what a true gift it is to teach a child to love to read, worlds of imagination and information are a true gift!
oh yum, looks delicious and Grainne’s apron is perfect.
Gráinne loves her fishy apron, and the cupcake was excellent! I plan to let the Hittys loose in the kitchen whenever they like!
