October Lanterns
Opal and Agathe have been busy these last few days of October…
…they have been snipping a tiny hole round the stem of “Japanese Lanterns”, and pulling out the berry…
.
.
…and then they popped a battery tea-light into the holes!
(thanks to Notes from Bjorkasa for this idea)

You are so creative. These are exquisitely beautiful and fun.
Aren’t they? The Hittys like them because they are simple to make too!
Incredibly clever and adorable too!
We got the idea from Bjorkasa, and slightly altered it – the Hitty cupboard finds these lanterns less messy than pumpkins!
We love ‘Chinese Lanterns’, which is the name we know them by. We’ve tried to grow them but the neighbourhood rabbits love them even more and eat them down to the ground! Perhaps some day, we will outwit them and be able to make lovely little autumn lanterns, too 🙂
It works with ground cherry “lanterns” too! I have seen them at the florists, though ridiculously expensive for a weed!
Ahh, the beauty of autumn and the creativity it brings…you’ve made a lovely entry into these crisp days.
We thought this was such a great idea we wanted to share it!
That is just about the most clever thing I have ever seen!! You are brilliant!! Agathe and Opal are so lucky to have YOU as their human!!
Well, I did adapt the idea, but the original inspiration is from the lovely Bjorkasa…I am so lucky to have Opal and Agathe in My Hitty Cupboard – they are the greatest fun!
Ooooooooh! Spectacular!
Thanks! It was a fun project – Opal and Agathe are filling the cupboard with lanterns!
How cool is that? Love it.

Thanks! We think it is fun, quick and a very tiny bit scary – perfect for Hittys!
