Iris Baskets
Vanilla helped tidy up the Iris garden…

…and amused herself in the shaggy nest I wove from the fronds.

This one was more basket-like, but still a little messy-looking…

.
Vanilla thinks this is the best of the three…
.
.
…besides being almost Hitty-sized, it even has a handle!

We have an activity coming up that will require some baskets!

Darling basket made from make do materials! The Quimper Hittys have a lovely selection of baskets.
Thanks! We were weeding, and just thought “what-if” I think maybe next time, if there is a next time, I would cut the fronds in the fall and not leave them out in the garden all winter…of course it is usually freezing cold and wet in the winter here…which is why we don’t think of it then.
Ahhhh, homey delights come in all sizes and shapes….I love what you’ve done with the iris leaves!
It was fun to experiment…we were quite amused at our partial success…the good thing is that the baskets are entirely compostable!
how clever to use the spent Iris fronds. Vanilla looks very pleased with that smallest basket.
Vanilla is a great encourager – she was pleased that I was able to make a smallish basket. The next one (even smaller) was not a success!
Such beautiful baskets!
They are nice, in their shabby way! I have a big heap of the fronts, and I may well try some more – perhaps braiding…
How adorable…Just love your woven baskets the most. Me thinks the Easter bunny will approve.
Me thinks you might be right! We are hoping so, and apparently the Prime Minister of New Zealand has declared the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy both to be essential workers!
That’s great
