Still Barefoot
Perdita and Floradora got new dresses for Winter…
.
.
…and though Floradora still didn’t have anything to put on her feet…
.
.
…Rose was busy calculating how much yarn she would need to knit a pair of socks…
.
.
…and Constance loaned her the Yukon slippers…
.
.
…so Floradora’s feet are warm and she is ready to play!

Constance’s slippers were purchased in Whitehorse…Click Here to read about that day!

Pretty…. Floradora’s green frock really suits her russet colouring. And what a miracle those slippers are; such good fortune to find them in a size suitable for Hittys.
Floradora and Perdita love the colour green, I think. Perdita hasn’t had a new dress since she came to live with us, but I made a mistake in the seam allowances, so the white dress ended up so small she was the only one to fit it! I just love the wee moccasins! I could not pass them by, even though they are a tad big for Constance’s feet – Floradora has almost just the right size feet – I think they will fit perfectly with socks.
The girls dresses looks so pretty. Perdita looks the happiest I’ve ever seen her. Those little Yukon moccasins are adorable. It’s just like Constance to help her new sister keep her feet warm.
Thank you very much – they both feel so happy in their sweet dresses – I am ever thankful to the Woodsbluff Hittys for showing me a new way to construct a pretty dress, and very glad I have Hittys in all sizes who can fit into even the mistakes I make when sewing! We were thrilled when we found the moccasins in the little shop in Whitehorse…Constance is glad to lend them to her sister – they actually fit Floradora better, so they may end up being a permanent loan.
That green dress is so pretty. Constance and the girls are having lots of fun
Thanks, I do love that fabric – Constance has a dress made out of it as well – she wore it when we travelled to Colombia a few years ago!
K, this is another very sweet narrative. The pretty dresses with that vibrant ric rac, the kindness of Constance, the sweet faces of all the dolls, the tidiness of the moccasins and the luxurious warmth that bathes the QH household all make for a marvelous way to start one’s day.
We are glad a glimpse into the Hitty Cupboard warmed you up…we have all been having such a stressful time lately, it seemed pleasant to to me to spend time sewing pretty things for little beings – It all makes the world seem a little less complicated (to me) for a while.
Lovely new dresses!! And such caring girls always willing to share!!
Thanks so much! We have fun around here, especially when fabrics or fibres are involved. The weather is cooling down here quite a bit and it is good to have some stitching projects to work on, especially rewarding when we can make our Hittys happy! And naturally they share their dresses around – it is rare that a particular Hitty sticks with just one dress!
