The Opposite Twins

Red Hair

On a Friday morning, the youngest human and the Quimper Hitty human each made a new doll, using a cast resin model of Ellen, (a cute doll carved by tc vollum…)

.

.

Paint Drying

…young human had to be very patient while her doll’s RED hair dried! The dolls are twins, but they are opposite personalities!

.

.

Leg drilling

At last the paint was all dry and their resin arms and legs could get drilled.

.

.

Drilling

The dolls are named Flame and Forest…guess which one is which? Flame is older because she got finished first!

.

.

Hip Drilling

The hips and shoulders had to be drilled, and it took a long time!

.

.

Elastic joints

Then with a bead to keep the knot from going in the hole, the young human threaded all the elastic joints on her doll…

.

.

Snip!

…and snipped the elastic close to the triple knot.

.

.

Patience

Forest was very patient and waited her turn!

.

.

Gold necklace

Then Flame got a golden necklace.

.

.

Finally Your Turn

…and a red and golden dress. Forest  still patiently waited until it was finally her turn.

.

.

Raspberry

Forest got a nice brown dress, and they both got hair ribbons.  Then they went outside for their first visit ever to the garden! The late raspberries were a bit mouldy…

.

.

Giant Spider!

…and there were huge spiders everywhere!

.

.

Pumpkin

Flame liked the orange pumpkin a lot, but Forest thought the outside was a bit scary…

.

.

Blogging

…so they went inside and they both helped write a blog about it!

    • Oh, Oh,Oh….we can see you all again! Do tell your sisters we send our fonest love from Wales!

Welcome to the world, Flame and Forest. We are amazed that Youngest Human is old enough to be Flame’s creator but delighted that she is a Hitty-loving human still.

We all love your names and, of course, they suit you really well.

How nice to have a twin, especially when it comes to facing spiders for the first time. They do look a little scary, but don’t worry, they are harmless to resin or wood, so we don’t need to fear them. They are quite useful here as flies seem to abound this year and they do get read of them so they don’t get into our apple cooking.

We hope we can get back to see what is going on at your home every time you post updates from now on. We have missed you all so.

      Lots of love,
      The Radnor Forest Hittys xxx

      • We are so happy to hear from you again, dear Radnor Forest Hittys! Your greetings and love to the Quimper Hittys made us very happy! We generally don’t mind spiders around here. The one in the picture has been doing a stellar job of teaching the wasps to leave our bins alone! We hope to see you again soon!

  1. You leave me with enchantment, contentedness and sweetness with each tale of life on and around the Quimper household. What fun you and youngest human member of the family must have. Her memories will be full of her grandmother’s able presence spending much creative time with her. Flame and Forest are folky favorites of mine now!

  2. Simply adorable from first photo to the last. Now the cupboard has two sets of twins. Youngest member has so many talents…her Flame is equal to Forest. She is amazing.

    • Flame went off with her little girl, but we are hopeful that she’ll come back soon and often! Young human was very intent on getting the right colours in the right places, and very patient and accepting of little “whoopsies”. I think she’s amazing too!

  3. We took a vote, here in the land of Ellen and Pink, It was unanimous – that is the best adventure a Resin Ellen could ever aspire to. What lucky little girls they are. Thank you for sharing with us!

    • Flame and Forest are so happy to be little people at last…they send their greetings to wooden Ellen!! These days are precious, and I feel so lucky…It was so much fun to work on this wee project – thank you SO much for making it possible!!!

  4. like two peas in a pod – Flame and Forest are enchanting. I can almost feel the fun and frustration of the two humans creating and writing together. The last photo is inspired. Lovely, just lovely.
