Tansy at Kiixin
Tansy and Favourite Photographer visited Kiixin, they are part of a small crew who are studying the effects of climate change on one of their favourite places.
.
.
Before starting work, the crew was greeted by Wišqii , who sang a welcome song.
.
.
There is a lot of coastal vegetation – and some of it is quite thick on the way down to the village site…
.
.
…but in amongst the houses the paths are clear and marked with oyster shells.
.
.
Tansy was happy to see her old friend Stella again…
.
.
…and so was Favourite Photographer – he has been friends with Stella for over 30 years! Stella and Wishkii are the guides at Kiixin.
.
.
Tansy is small and light, and respectful around First Nations sites…
.
.
…so she was allowed to sit on fallen house beams.
.
.
…and get right up close to some of the house features.
.
.
Tansy enjoyed helping the crew…
.
.
…including heading down to the beach in front of the village…
.
.
…where she helped set up a series of time-lapse photos.
.
.
It was a long day, but what a privilege to be working with the Huu-ay-aht people on this project.

❤️ Tansy has great adventures. They should be a book.
We love it when Tansy goes adventuring – she comes back with such great stories!
What a beautiful place!
It is a beautiful place – from all accounts, I have never been there, but seeing it through Tansy’s eyes does make me want to visit!
The diversity of people, places, customs, etc., are such a gift to us. Thank you Tansy, K and FP for this respectful view of Kiixin and it’s folk.
We are very very lucky! And happy to have permission to share these beautiful places with you in pictures.
I hadn’t realized that a first Nation area could be reached without traveling on Passing Cloud. What a delightful surprise seeing Favorite Photographer and Tansy in this unspoiled and beautiful area. Praying that we humans can take notice of how to respect and care for our planet and the diversity of life on it.
We are glad you can travel along with us to this beautiful village in Huu-ay-aht territory, as well as Tansy’s visits to Haida Gwaii.
I love how much I learn from your blog. thank you.
You are welcome – we are always happy to share what we learn!
a huge thank you to the Favorite Photographer and Tansy for sharing their day with us. I can almost smell the wet forest, love the oyster shell paths and the beach views are breath taking.
It is wonderful that they made it out there finally, one of these days I hope I might be able to accompany them!
Yes, once again, me too, I want to say, all these amazing days, post, stories, photographs, art, should be a book. How precious… I can’t explain well, how much I love to be here in your world. Thank you, Have a nice weekend, Love, nia
Thank you Nia, we love it when you visit us…maybe some day we will meet for real – wouldn’t that be fun!?
always so interesting when Tansy is out and about. I so enjoy the links you add to explain some of the sites .. Thank you. Also so happy the favorite photographer is able to be out on site again!
We were so happy too – they get such an infusion of positivity on these trips, though they return exhausted and with mountains of laundry!
