Tansy visits Haida Gwaii again
Tansy and Favourite Photographer got on a little plane….
.
.
…taxied down the little runway…
.
.
…and flew over the little islands in the Salish Sea.
.
.
In Vancouver they switched to a bigger plane for a longer flight…
.
.
…to Haida Gwaii!
.
.
It was so nice to be back to visit – this is one of Tansy and Favourite Photographer’s favourite places in the world…
.
.
…they were there for meetings, but they did go on a boat ride…
.
.
…and got up close to some sea creatures…
.
.
and some lithics.
.
.
…it was cloudy but it didn’t rain!
.
There was a fabulous feast on the last evening, madeby Roberta (Juuskaahlii), including Kaaw, frybread, smoked salmon, dried seaweed.
She got cosy with the Kaaw because she loves the way the roe explodes in her mouth so hogged big piece to herself…
.
.
…now she needs her jeans washed but that is always the case after a field trip!
.
.
It was so beautiful in Haida Gwaii, and Tansy feels lucky to have been there even briefly. Visiting the peaceful spaces, eating good food and spending time with good friends fills her with joy…hope she can go back soon!

I would assume Tansy and FP are feeling very satisfied after this excursion. Again, thanks to all for letting us peek into one some of this adventure.
We are feeling very satisfied indeed! Tansy is especially pleased with the “lithic” (aka stone tool) that is 10,700 years old! And other finds that were from 4 to 8,000 years old. She has archaeology flowing in her deepest phloem.
Favourite Photographer and Tansy get on so well together – wonderfully expressive and informative photos.
They love their visits to Haida Gwaii – and they are good company for eachother!
Tansy and Favorite Photographer always thrill me when they share their trips with us. I too was facinated with the lithic stone. I loved the shapes on it and the wee little snails? The peaceful area is soooooo soothing. Tansy is so accomplished.
The shapes on the lithic (and the material) are how you can tell it was a deliberately made stone tool and not just a randomly chipped rock! I love it when Tansy and F.P. share their trips too!
I loved this post.
Thanks you! We are very glad you enjoyed the trip with Tansy and F. P.
loved this virtual trip to Haida Gwaii, such a beautiful place, like being on a different planet. Magical!
It is pretty wonderful isn’t it?! Something about the morning light there, and echoes of the sounds of the birds and water, boats, the feeling of the air, the smell…the rare times I could accompany them have been pretty special, but the photos do bring back those beautiful echoes.
always an adventure to this enchanting place. Tansy is a marvelous guide.
Tansy loves visiting, and is always glad to have your company, even virtually!
