Pine cones for the birds
Floradora pulled some fluff out of a bag of colourful fleece…
.
.
…and then stuffed it into a pine cone…
.
.
…she had fun choosing different colours, like this beautiful fuchsia…
.
.
…and these amazing reds and oranges.
.
.
Little human’s dad came up with this idea to help the birds with their nest-making!
.
.
Strings were attached…
.
.
…to hang them in trees…
.
.
Young human helped some more!!
.
.
Floradora hung upside down to hang this one!
.
.
…and sat in the tree to admire it!
.
.
Now we wait for the birds to come!
.
.
What a great idea and so fun to see “young human” and Floradora working together to give color to the birds in this nesting season.
We love the idea of making some soft fleece available to the birds, and the bright little balls of colour are like blessings in the trees…
What a clever idea! Have you had any takers yet? It would certainly help you to identify their nests.
We haven’t spotted any birds lifting wool from the pine cones yet – but we are watching!
What cheerful hangings.
Thanks – we had fun making them! Something does seem to be pulling at the fluff, so maybe the birds are enjoying them too!
what a good idea…I have just poked some threads, etc into the branches..never tried it with the wool fluffs…thanks for the inspiration!
We will probably never see the results, but hope the birds will enjoy the cheery nest material!
