Setesdalsgenser
Rose is working on a Norwegian Sweater.

.
We learned they are called Setesdalsgenser in Norwegian.
Setes is the name of the valley (dal) that the genser (sweater) design comes from.
Dal is related to the word dale, and genser may be related to the word gansey (sweaters knitted in the Channel Islands). How the Norse language has permeated English!
Rose is thinking of knitting a gansey next!

You and your Hittys make such beautiful items and give us all kinds of interesting tidbits in the process. It’s so fun to read your posts.
Thanks! We have fun researching, writing and photographing them!
Rose is SO talented!! I have a friend who is of Norwegian heritage and she is going to love this post! Thank you.
Rose is feeling experimental, and she is loving this new/old yarn!
That is going to be amazing!
We think the Hittys will enjoy the product!
