Constance and Aurelia think the Iris are almost as beautiful as the Jasmine vines in Provence, though they have much larger flowers, which don’t smell as nice…
Constance, Tansy and Aurelia traveled West from Cabriès to visit the Musée Départmental Arles Antique. Click here for a link to this Museum, which has wonderful exhibits about life and trade in the Roman city of Arelate, founded in 46 BCE by Julius Caesar…the girls were very impressed by the mosaics!
Tansy, Constance and Aurelia are staying in Cabriès, a tiny 11th century hilltop town in Provence, between Aix and Marseilles. It used to belong to the Abbaye de Sainte-Victor, the old church that we visited in Marseille.
We are very happy to be visiting a relative who lives near the city of Marseilles. One day we went into the city, where Constance, Tansy and Aurelia explored the very narrow and twisty streets in the Endoume neighbourhood.
We were tourists in the cities of Santa Cruz, and La Laguna on our last days in the Canary Islands…the girls went down for a last glimpse of the auditorium (completed 2003)…
We took a bus tour from Santa Cruz de Tenerife (sea level), to the highest mountain in Spain – the volcano Teide 3,718 m asl (12198 feet). This picture is taken from the bus, which gets you to the bottom of the volcano. If you want to go higher up, you can take a cable car.
