For about five years (ever since the Quimper Hitty human inherited a couple of Springerle rolling pins), every December we decide to make these special European Christmas cookies. We locate the recipe, assemble the ingredients, and read the instructions….then we get to the part that says the baked cookies have to sit for 6 – 8 weeks before eating. Drat. This year, Hattie, one of my favourite baking companions, piped up the last week of October.
The youngest Quimper Hittys think it is excellent fun having an entire room for their playthings. They have a mixture of books, puzzles and both indoor and outdoor toys.
The Hittys are not the only ones who are exploring our new dollhouse, St Denis…the cat likes the fact that the doors open and shut, and sincerely hopes that the door-openers will be on standby.
A new dwelling has been installed near the Quimper Hitty cupboard. This is a work of art by our friend the Dollhouse Lady, who has made us very, very happy! The original is a flower shop located at 3835 St Denis in Montreal (click here for google street view).
