Constance always feels a little sad when the walrus-watching season is over. Up on the walrus rocks in Alaska there have been storms and clouds and crashing waves for a few days now. The walruses have abandoned the island completely, and the biologist/camera operators are departing for the season today.
Tansy and her favourite photographer sailed on the schooner Passing Cloud for two weeks around the southern archipelago of Haida Gwaii. The opportunities to observe sea life from the boat were marvelous, but so were the shore excursions.
Because it is August 14th today, Carrot Soup is getting dressed in the Quimper Hitty’s traditional Ukrainian finery (which was made for Tansy two years ago when she went to visit our Ukrainian Hitty friend in Winnipeg).(more…)
Tansy explored the Passing Cloud when she was not working. She looked in all the nooks and crannies, usually with an eye for a good spot to rest and take in the view. (more…)
Rose is always willing to help with a knitting project, and provided much encouragement with the latest pair of socks (though she, like the rest of the Hittys, always optimistically refers to hand-made socks as Hitty Sleeping Bags).
