Gummy Worms
The Comox Valley Hittys and the Quimper Hittys cooperated in trying a new recipe!
.
.
…first Tipsy and Arianell wedged the apple onto the core/peel/slicer…
.
.
…and then Elsatuna turned the crank!!
.
.
The apple peels came spiralling off…
.
.
…and then Carrot Soup put the wormy things into a bag!
.
.
Tatty got her favourite jello and poured it into the bag of apple peels…
.
.
…and then Carrot Soup and Linnea shook the peels in the powder until they were completely coated.
.
.
The grown-ups baked the apple peels in a very slow oven for half an hour…
.
.
…they turned out a bit crunchy…
.
.
…but Tatty and Elsatuna (and the young human) thought they were the most delicious worms they had ever tasted!!!
.
.
Linnea didn’t like the idea of eating worms so she ate the apple slices.
I shall have to give it a try!
I may have cooked them too long/too hot/cut used thinner peelings, or something. I am not sure I will go out of my way to make them again, but do feel free! The process was entertaining!
Looks like fun was once again enjoyed with the Comox Valley group. Might you have crocheted Carrot Soup’s bonnet? Looks great.
I did not crochet Carrot Soup’s bonnet, but I do like its simplicity and prettiness. We did have fun!
When the Quimper and Comox Hittys get together there is sure to be lots of fun.
We had fun…luckily it was a relatively pleasant day outside as we are still trying to have socially distanced visits!
it looks like the Comox valley group have moved south, so nice that you can have frequent get togethers.
They do live in town these days and we are glad to get together more often. This week and next are March Break so we are seeing a lot of eachother!
how clever and tasty….and who does not like munching on worms? Well except for Linnea (smart girl that Linnea!)
This human was not completely enthralled with them, but we all enjoyed the magical peeling, shaking and baking, and the small human and Hittys (except the wise Linnea) thought they were the Best!
I will definitely have to give this one a try with the… sigh… well, maybe I’ll just make them for me.
you may have better luck than I did with them…let me know if so – I may be missing some essential trick!
I used to put them in my dehydrator… Oh, and I soaked them in “Fruit Fresh” (used for canning). I also made the peels as chips rather than worms.
Very Interesting – Looks like the girls had lots of fun….
They did, even though the results were unexpected!
I am inspired to try this too! What fun!
