Abigail
The carving knives have been busy in Quimperland…
.
.
…this girl has already been named by my 30-year-old middle child. She is another storm doll, made from the same piece of cherry wood as the doll I made last summer.
.
.
The first pair of legs I made for that doll were chewed during construction by the drilling process, so I carved new legs for that doll.
.
.
But I saved the damaged legs, and used them for this doll. To repair them I: glued the cracks with cyanoacrylate glue; filled the holes with epoxy; and re-drilled a much smaller hole. This girl will have elastic joints as the repairs are not up to the stress of a wooden joint.

Abigail is so beautiful already!
Thank you! She begged me to carve her!
So sweet! Love her hair! It is amazing!
I am glad you like it – I think she is sweet too!
So beautiful 😍
Thanks so much, carving small dolls gives me great joy!
It is always wonderful to see how you utilize what you have in front of you-a quality I greatly admire.
I am very lucky! I do like to mend and re-use if possible…and those legs were too cute to throw out!
those magical carving knives creating such marvelous little people. She is delightful and those shoes!!!
Aw, thanks! You are such a good encourager…it was pretty quick making this dolly, the legs (with the cute shoes already carved!) were much quicker to repair than it would have been to start from scratch!
