October Garden
Henrietta and Tipsy put on their warm woolies (jumpers socks and shoes) and walked out to garden bed where the garlic cloves are sleeping in their beds of leaf compost. Most of the vegetable garden is hiding but we are already looking forward to next year!

The garden gate is the best spot from which to admire the neighbour’s apples.
.
.
Our Gravenstein apples have all been picked and eaten (in salads, galletes and breakfasts)…
.
.
…and the quince tree is loaded with fruit which is beginning to drop – Hooray! We love quince jam.
.
.
The Oak leaves are glorious this year…
.
.
…and the lilies and Asters are radiant!

It is a funny time of year in the garden. With darkness increasing, rain and a definite chill in the air the plants are giving us one last blaze of glory. It is damp today! Henrietta and Tipsy are thankful for warm clothes, and for the loveliness of our beautiful garden.

Thanks for bringing “the loveliness of [y]our beautiful garden” to us. The colors are spectacular to me from a dry Midwestern vantage point.
You are welcome…The colours are particularly intense when everything is wet…the garden always seems to have its’ aspects of beauty and hope.
Cuteness. I love it
Thanks!
What great sweaters and shoes to go out into the fall garden. Best to have traction on the slippery limbs.
Sweaters are so cosy these days, and yes – good shoes for walking in muddy or slippery places. The Hittys are glad of their warm socks too!
You have reminded me to plant garlic. Thank you. It is certainly time to get the woolies out.
Summer evaporated! Thank goodness for woolies! Hopefully our garlic and yours will like its’ winter sleeping quarters, and emerge plump and happy in the spring!
Did you knit those jumpers – they are spectacular! The colors in the yarn look wonderful against the backdrop of the flowers 🙂
I did knit them thanks! The pullover is made of leftover sock yarn, and the cardigan was an experiment with Noro Lace yarn! We love little sweaters!
Very impressive, I have yet to try and knit a human size pullover!
the HIttys are perfectly dressed for a damp fall day. Your garden is glorious in all seasons as are the precious wooden people who live with you.
The Hittys are glad that there is almost always some yarn leftover when I am knitting socks, and that I like to knit little sweaters! We love the garden in all seasons too!
